Industrial Track and Scenery

Industrial areas often look rougher and more heavily used than main lines or yards. These tracks may include dirt, coal dust, spilled materials, oil stains, broken rock, and ballast partly buried between the ties.

Mix gray ballast with industrial dirt, cinders, coal, and fine debris to create an uneven, well-used appearance. Add darker stains near loading areas, machinery, fuel tanks, and places where locomotives frequently stop.

Keeping the ballast low, irregular, and partly covered helps industrial track look older, dirtier, and more realistic.
